I'm a lazy bastard...

I swear I typed a New Years post. For the life of me I can’t recall where I saved it. I rock. I’ll give a brief recap.

December:
Removed most of my cash from the online world to buy stupid Christmas presents. Happy freaking holidays.

January:
Not so easy to deposit, and I’m still treading water with what I have left, so I decide to play live. I had stopped playing live (down to 4-5 times a year) because I’m a limit player and it’s rare to see a game over 2/4 going. I did get to play in a 3/6 w/ a half-kill, and that was one great game. I read up on the NL limit game and decided to give it a go. My first session was an $11 win, and I was playing tight. My second session was a $75 win. Pretty shitty for 8 hours, but I was getting a feel for the game and learning how to bet. I had become so accustomed to only having to know when to bet. Now I’ve got to not only know when, but how much. The +1 has been a big help on this. I haven’t been able to play as much as I’d like, but in live play I’m up almost exactly what I was from the online game in ’06 through 2 months (actually a hair more). I’ll take it.

Goals for 2007:
I’m happy to say I met/exceeded all of my goals for last year. Unfortunately because of the way I ended the year (really August through October) I don’t have the warm & fuzzy feeling I should have. I take no solace in meeting my goals. I should have done better.

Sorry. Back to this year. Unlike last year, when I had goals for both profit and limit played, this year I’m only setting a profit goal for my cash game play. I don’t care what limit I’m playing, as long as I’m profitable and it’s worth my time. I put too much emphasis on the game I was playing and not enough on the bottom line. The truth is that I play cards for profit. That’s what matters. So I’m adding 25% to last year’s number and pressing forward. The second part of the goal is tourneys. I’d like to turn a profit in these this year. I booked a slight loss last year, and losing money sucks.

Some Random Thoughts:
- I’m having a few issues in my NL game. First is getting maximum value from my big made hands. I’m not getting paid off enough. Second is middle pocket pairs. If there are one or two aggressive players at the table, I’m having some trouble with these. Third is the isolation re-raise. I really enjoy this play in a good limit game, but I’m having trouble applying it to the NL game. I miss it.

- The weather has sucked man. Cold and snow all month. We had a great December and January, but February has just been brutal. I really enjoy winter, but I’m ready for spring.

- As much as I’m enjoying the live play and the profit from it, it sucks having to go to the casino. It’s only a matter of time until I move back to more online play.

- I’m off to the casino tomorrow morning. There’s a 10am tournament that I may play in. The buyin is low enough and it’s a rebuy, but I don’t know the whole structure. If I don’t play it I’ll likely play 8 or 10 hours NL.

I’ll do a better job updating this now. It helps to keep me motivated. BTW, having to create a google id was a real pain in the ass. I have enough online shit to remember.
